Credit Card – Reward Card Programs

Look around and you will find that pretty much every credit card company is offering up some kind of reward program with their cards. They try and make it impossible to walk away from such a great deal. All their deals sound pretty good but are they truly all that great? Some times they are and other times… they aren’t so good.

Many people consider carrying around numerous types of reward cards, but keep in mind some are pretty much worthless. Although using this type of credit card is a pretty good idea you may end up spending way too much if you fail to pay attention to the items you’re actually buying. Common sense is the way to go when it comes to reward credit cards.

Always avoid those high APR reward cards. Something that should become quite obvious is that the more rewards you get with a card the higher the rate will usually be. The only way it won’t really make any difference is if you pay off the entire balance every month. This is the only way that the high APR will match the reward. Always be sure to read the details in the fine print on any credit card rewards deal to help avoid problems. This goes for standard cards as well as rewards cards.

One of the most popular reward cards out there today is the cash back rewards. A large majority of the larger credit card companies, as well as banks, are offering some kind of cash back program which gives you around 1% on each purchase. Always check into the maximum limit attached to the cash back card. You may not get cash back on every purchase, because it may stop at a specific amount you spend.

Point type reward cards have become increasingly popular. You collect points and then redeem them for some type of bonus. This can range from gifts to trips and everything in between. You will also find some that give you frequent flyer miles. Every dollar spent will equal a point or mile. It usually takes approximately 25,000 reward points before you may be able to redeem them. Finding your ideal card will take time and effort but stay with it and you will be rewarded.
